Storage Tank Lining Services
Full-scope internal lining for large-diameter storage tanks — surface preparation, primer, membrane and topcoat application by RK Rubber, Ahmedabad.
Large-diameter storage tanks need a lining system matched to both the stored chemical and the practical realities of applying a coating or membrane across a big internal surface — floor, wall and roof.
We handle the full scope: surface preparation, primer, membrane or lining-system application, and topcoat, with our own crews supervising the job from start to handover.
Lining system selection (rubber, FRP, HDPE/PP sheet or acid-brick, depending on the tank) is matched to the stored chemical, temperature and expected service life.
Industries & Applications
- Bulk chemical storage terminals
- Effluent and wastewater treatment plants
- Fertiliser and agrochemical storage
- Process water and utility tanks
- Dye and pigment manufacturing
Materials & Lining Systems
- Rubber, FRP, HDPE/PP sheet or acid-brick systems, selected per tank duty
- Primers and bonding coats matched to the substrate and lining system
- Topcoats for chemical or UV exposure where relevant
Resistance
Chemical
Matched to the stored chemical by selecting the appropriate lining system for that duty — see individual lining-system pages for material-specific resistance notes.
Temperature
Confirmed per project based on stored-product temperature and any process heating/cooling involved.
Abrasion
Selected per project — harder linings for tanks with mechanical agitation or particulate content, softer/flexible systems elsewhere.
Surface Preparation
- 1Full internal inspection of floor, wall and roof condition
- 2Abrasive blasting or grinding to the profile required by the selected lining system
- 3Repair of any substrate defects (pitting, weld undercuts) before lining begins
- 4Primer application within the specified coating window
Installation Steps
- 1Floor lining/membrane installation, working outward from the centre or a fixed reference line
- 2Wall lining installation, coordinated with floor-to-wall transition detailing
- 3Roof and nozzle/manway detailing
- 4Topcoat application where specified
Inspection & Testing
- Spark (holiday) testing across the full lined surface
- Adhesion and thickness spot-checks
- Visual inspection of floor-to-wall transitions and all penetrations
Completion Time & Maintenance
Typically 1–4 weeks depending on tank diameter, lining system selected and the condition of the substrate — confirmed after a site survey.
- Scheduled internal inspection at intervals appropriate to the stored chemical and lining system
- Prompt repair of any localised lining damage found during inspection
- Keep records of inspection and repair history to plan future relining timing
Frequently Asked Questions
Which lining system is right for my storage tank?
It depends on the stored chemical, operating temperature, tank size and whether there's mechanical agitation. We review the specifics with you and recommend rubber, FRP, HDPE/PP sheet or acid-brick lining accordingly — see our individual lining-service pages for material-specific detail.
Do you handle both new tank lining and relining of existing tanks?
Yes — we line new tank fabrications before commissioning, and we also strip and reline existing tanks that have reached the end of their current lining's service life.
How do you minimise tank downtime during relining?
We plan the surface-prep, application and testing sequence around your shutdown window, and can phase work (e.g. floor then walls) if a full simultaneous shutdown isn't practical — this is confirmed during project planning.
