Acid Proof Bricks Lining Services
Complete acid-brick lining of vessels, pits and flooring using RK Rubber's own bricks and Casio mortar — bond-tested, turnkey material and labour.
Acid-brick lining builds a rigid, chemically inert barrier from dense acid-resistant brick set in a chemical-resistant mortar — used where a lining needs to withstand continuous chemical exposure alongside mechanical or thermal loading that a flexible lining can't handle as well.
We supply the brick and Casio (silicate-based) mortar ourselves and install it as a turnkey package — material and labour from one source, so the mortar chemistry and brick supply are always matched.
Used for vessel and pit lining as well as acid-resistant flooring in process areas.
Industries & Applications
- Chemical and petrochemical processing
- Fertiliser manufacturing
- Effluent treatment plants and pickling pits
- Dye and pigment manufacturing
- Battery and electroplating industries
Materials & Lining Systems
- Acid resistant bricks (dense, low-porosity)
- Casio mortar (silicate-based jointing compound)
- Membrane/barrier layer beneath brickwork where specified
- Acid resistant tiles for finished flooring applications
Resistance
Chemical
Dense acid-resistant brick and matched silicate mortar are widely used for continuous exposure to acids and corrosive effluents.
Temperature
Suited to a wider service-temperature range than most flexible linings, including moderate thermal cycling — confirm exact limits for your process.
Abrasion
Rigid brick surface offers good resistance to mechanical wear and foot/vehicle traffic on flooring applications.
Surface Preparation
- 1Substrate inspection and repair of any structural defects
- 2Application of a membrane or barrier coat beneath the brickwork where specified
- 3Layout and setting-out of brick courses to suit the vessel or floor geometry
Installation Steps
- 1Bedding and laying of acid-resistant bricks in Casio mortar, course by course
- 2Jointing and pointing to a continuous, chemical-tight finish
- 3Detailing around nozzles, drains and floor penetrations
- 4Curing period before the vessel or floor is returned to service
Inspection & Testing
- Bond and joint inspection across the finished lining
- Spot checks for mortar coverage and void-free jointing
- Visual inspection of penetration detailing and floor drainage falls (for flooring work)
Completion Time & Maintenance
Typically 1–3 weeks depending on lined area, brick course complexity and mortar cure time.
- Periodic inspection for cracked bricks or eroded jointing
- Prompt repointing of any deteriorated joints before they undermine the barrier
- Avoid mechanical impact loading beyond the lining's design intent
Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose acid-brick lining over a flexible lining like rubber or FRP?
Acid-brick lining handles combined chemical, thermal and mechanical loading — such as hot acid with some abrasive content, or floors subject to foot and equipment traffic — better than most flexible linings. Flexible linings (rubber, FRP) are often preferred where the vessel needs to flex or where installation speed matters more.
What is Casio mortar?
Casio mortar is a silicate-based jointing compound we manufacture in-house, formulated to bond acid-resistant brickwork into a fully chemical-tight seal. Using our own mortar and brick together keeps the material chemistry matched.
Do you supply acid-brick lining for flooring as well as vessels?
Yes — the same brick-and-mortar system is used for chemical-resistant flooring in process areas, pits and bunds, in addition to vessel and tank lining.
