Tank Lining

HDPE Tank Lining Services

Loose and welded HDPE sheet lining for chemical storage and reaction tanks, fabricated and welded on-site — Ahmedabad-based lining crews serving India.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) tank lining provides a chemically inert, weldable thermoplastic barrier for storage and reaction vessels handling acids, alkalis and a wide range of industrial chemicals.

We fabricate and weld HDPE sheet lining on-site to match the tank geometry, using either loose-fit (free-standing) or fully welded, anchored construction depending on the vessel design and duty.

Every welded seam is tested before handover, giving a lining system built and verified as one continuous piece rather than a series of unverified joints.

Industries & Applications

  • Chemical storage and bulk handling
  • Effluent treatment plants
  • Electroplating and metal finishing
  • Fertiliser and agrochemical processing
  • Water and wastewater treatment

Materials & Lining Systems

  • High-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheet, various thicknesses
  • Extrusion and hot-air welding rod matched to sheet grade
  • Anchoring studs and accessories for fully bonded installations

Resistance

Chemical

HDPE resists a wide range of acids, alkalis, salts and solvents as a material class, which is why it's a common choice for chemical storage tank lining.

Temperature

Best suited to ambient and moderately elevated storage temperatures — softens at higher temperatures, so duty should be confirmed against the specific process.

Abrasion

Reasonable resistance to mild abrasion; not intended for high-velocity slurry duty.

Surface Preparation

  1. 1Inspection of the parent tank structure and surface condition
  2. 2Cleaning of the substrate ahead of loose-fit installation, or anchor-point layout for welded/bonded systems
  3. 3Sheet layout and cutting to match tank geometry, nozzles and fittings

Installation Steps

  1. 1Fabrication of HDPE panels to the tank's internal profile
  2. 2Fitting and tack-welding of panels in sequence
  3. 3Full extrusion or hot-air welding of all seams
  4. 4Detailing around nozzles, manways and fittings for a continuous liner

Inspection & Testing

  • Spark (holiday) testing of welded seams
  • Vacuum-box or air-pressure testing of critical joints where specified
  • Visual inspection of weld beads and penetration details

Completion Time & Maintenance

Typically 4–12 working days depending on tank diameter, height and the number of nozzle penetrations to detail.

  • Periodic visual inspection for warping, seam separation or discolouration
  • Avoid contact with solvents or temperatures outside the confirmed operating range
  • Prompt weld repair if any seam damage is found
Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between loose-fit and fully welded HDPE lining?

Loose-fit lining sits as a free-standing liner inside the tank shell, which is faster to install and suits some storage applications. Fully welded and anchored lining is bonded to the tank wall at fixed points, giving better support for larger tanks or where the liner needs to resist external pressure changes. We recommend the approach based on tank size and duty.

Can HDPE lining handle hot process liquids?

HDPE has a lower service temperature ceiling than rubber, FRP or acid-brick systems, so it's best suited to ambient and moderately warm process conditions. For hotter duty we typically recommend a different lining system — talk to us about your actual operating temperature.

How do you test welded HDPE seams?

Every seam is spark tested, and critical joints can additionally be vacuum-box or air-pressure tested to confirm there are no leak paths before the tank is returned to service.
